DESCRIPTION:Join us for a movie showing of this timely documentary about the fashion industry. True Cost is a documentary\, directed by Andrew Morgan about the clothes we wear\, the people who make them\, and the impact the industry is having on our world. \nWe all know parts of the story of the textile industry\, however\, the common dialogue around the fashion industry omits key components. This is an opportunity to learn more and talk about it. We will be screening the moving and then having a group discussion to share and gather the collective knowledge and experience in the room. \nWe are so excited to be putting on this event with slowfiber – the only local sustainable maker mender supply store\, right here in downtown Monterey. SUMMARY:Pacific Grove Earth Day Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Sustainable Pacific Grove invites the public to a special public event on Sunday\, April 22\, from noon to 3 p.m. to celebrate Earth Day 2023.  Earth Day is observed every year on April 22\, in honor of John Muir’s birthday. \nMembers of the community are invited to join this special celebration at the Community Garden\, located on 210 Ridge Road near Lighthouse Ave.\, behind the Pacific Grove Adult School campus – just steps away from the Monarch Grove Sanctuary.  The garden includes 40 individual plots\, a Children’s Garden\, and two greenhouses. \nVolunteers started the garden 11 years ago\, under the auspices of Sustainable Pacific Grove. The garden is part of the Pacific Grove Adult School campus and has grown into a verdant and highly productive source of organic vegetables for local families. For the last three years\, a large organic salad harvested in the garden is served in the weekly community meals provided by the Al & Friends food program. \nEarth Day Program at the Pacific Grove Community Garden \n \n\n12 noon to 3 pm: Tour of the garden area\, with special presentations about creative\nraised bed gardening\, succession planting\, plants to attract pollinators\, and composting\nwith live earthworms.\n1 to 3 pm: Appalachian Tunes performed by Matt & Lance\, two local musicians.\n1 to 2 pm: Children’s Garden Hour. Story time\, arts & crafts\, planting seeds in\nrepurposed containers\, and Eat Your Veggies food demonstration.\n1 to 2 pm: Performance Art by Rosalia Webster and the BiG SuRCuS\n\nPG GROWS HEALTHY\nA pilot project to teach food gardening to local families \nAt the Earth Day Celebration\, community garden members will launch a new urban\nfarming program for Pacific Grove families. PG GROWS HEALTHY will teach local\nresidents how to plant healthy food in their home gardens. \nNo matter how small or\nshady their available space may be\, they can install a productive garden that will\nprovide a family with organic vegetables throughout the year. The pilot project for PG\nGROWS HEALTHY will be offered to five local households who will be mentored by\ngarden members in monthly hands-on classes. DESCRIPTION:Join Sustainable Seaside and the City of Seaside for the 12th Annual Seaside Earth Day Celebration and Electric Vehicle Test Drive/Ride/Display Fair\, a free family-friendly community event on Sunday\, April 23\, 1 pm – 4 pm\, on the Seaside City Hall Lawn.  The afternoon will feature music by Palenke Arts youth ensembles\, a Trashion Show\, fun activities for children\, info booths\, Big Sur Taco truck\, and a free raffle. \nTest drive an electric vehicle\, talk to EV owners and learn about purchase incentives.  Have your EV Passport stamped at the various information booths and become eligible to win an e-bicycle! \nTake home some organically grown tomato starts.  Several varieties have been specially selected to grow in our Seaside / Central Coast growing zone.  Suggested $2 donation per plant. \nHelp us make this a ZERO-Waste event.  Bring your own water bottle and fill it at our water refill station.
