DESCRIPTION:Sustainable Pacific Grove invites the public to a special public event on Sunday\, April 22\, from noon to 3 p.m. to celebrate Earth Day 2023.  Earth Day is observed every year on April 22\, in honor of John Muir’s birthday. \nMembers of the community are invited to join this special celebration at the Community Garden\, located on 210 Ridge Road near Lighthouse Ave.\, behind the Pacific Grove Adult School campus – just steps away from the Monarch Grove Sanctuary.  The garden includes 40 individual plots\, a Children’s Garden\, and two greenhouses. \nVolunteers started the garden 11 years ago\, under the auspices of Sustainable Pacific Grove. The garden is part of the Pacific Grove Adult School campus and has grown into a verdant and highly productive source of organic vegetables for local families. For the last three years\, a large organic salad harvested in the garden is served in the weekly community meals provided by the Al & Friends food program. \nEarth Day Program at the Pacific Grove Community Garden \n \n\n12 noon to 3 pm: Tour of the garden area\, with special presentations about creative\nraised bed gardening\, succession planting\, plants to attract pollinators\, and composting\nwith live earthworms.\n1 to 3 pm: Appalachian Tunes performed by Matt & Lance\, two local musicians.\n1 to 2 pm: Children’s Garden Hour. DESCRIPTION:Big Sur Advocates:  Earth Day Fair in Big Sur \nWHEN: Saturday\, April 22\, 2023\, from 11:00 AM-3:00 PM \nWHERE:  The Henry Miller Library\, 48603 CA-1\, Big Sur\, CA 93920 \nWHAT: “Fostering Environmental and Sustainable Learning” presented by Big Sur Advocates for a Green Environment (B-SAGE). Activities taking place include Foods and speakers celebrating plant-based foods; plastic pollution interactive awareness activities; local school children’s poster contest about growing healthy foods; litter picker awareness; mini outdoor activity\, green care workshop\, and other natural resource topics. There will be tasty organic foods.
