SUMMARY:West End Celebration in Sand City
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate local arts and culture at this annual street scene\, with over 150 artists\, crafters\, and vendors.  Experience the eco-friendly perspective of the “Green Scene” on Ortiz Avenue and check out the information booths offering information on everything from community gardens to solar power. \nStop by the Sustainable Seaside/FOSPA booth on Saturday and Sunday to learn about our ongoing projects and upcoming events. We’re located on Ortiz Avenue\, (across from Mark’s Barn Auto & Body shop). \n \nEach year\, the fourth week in August\, six blocks in the heart of Sand City are closed to traffic\, and the streets are transformed into pedestrian galleries for visual and performing artists.  Sidewalk theater is part of the fun\, and live music fills the air from three stages showcasing local and regional acts. \nFor more details\, visit https://westendcelebration.com/

SUMMARY:RED DRESS DAY
DESCRIPTION:All are invited to attend the RED DRESS DAY – a day for raising awareness of missing and murdered Indigenous women\, girls\, and two-spirit persons.\n\nSat\, May 6\, 11 am – 6 pm at Oldemeyer Center in Seaside. www.facebook.com/events/1458037334603825\n\n\n\nThe day begins with a Remembrance Circle & Honoring Ceremony for the missing Indigenous persons. A panel of Indigenous women will then discuss AB1314 legislation – a law to establish a statewide emergency alert system for missing Native people. Family members who have lost a loved one will speak about their experiences.\n\n\n\nThe event features a Red Dress exhibit\, a drum circle\, songs\, stories\, and an Indigenous lunch prepared with love by the fabulous fry bread sisters. The day ends with a raffle and silent auction.
