DESCRIPTION:California Coastal Cleanup Day\nDel Rey Park\, 999 Angelus Way\, Del Rey Oaks\n \nSaturday\, September 21\, 2024\, from 9 am to 12 pm.\nRegister to volunteer at saveourshores.org/coastal-cleanup. \nVolunteers:  Please arrive by 8:45 am at the park to check in\, and get instructions and supplies.\n \nLearn more about this annual event on the California Coastal Commission website \nCoastal Cleanup Day is the largest global clean-up event of the year.  Make a positive impact on our beautiful Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary by volunteering to help clean up the Work Memorial Park wetland.  Sponsored by Save Our Shores in partnership with Sustainable Del Rey Oaks.  \nCalifornia Coastal Cleanup Day marks its 40th anniversary this year. The event is organized by the California Coastal Commission and the Ocean Conservancy\, and its goals are to remove marine debris from beaches and waterways and to give back to the ocean\, beaches\, and creeks.

DESCRIPTION:Sustainable Del Rey Oaks is partnering with Del Rey Oaks Parks & Recreation Committee and Citizens Action Group on this family-friendly community celebration. \nActivities will include a scavenger hunt\, our new basketball court ribbon-cutting\, and yummy free ice cream. Peter Miller will be our musical guest. \nThe Sustainable Del Rey Oaks table is the place to be to learn about Earth-Friendly Households and how you can get your own sticker to proudly place on your recycle bin. Attendees can also plant native wildflowers and gather information about upcoming activities for the whole family. \nSustainable Del Rey Oaks is proud to host the following exhibitors:  Fort Ord Recreational Trail and Greenway (FORTAG) \n\nMonterey Peninsula Regional Parks District (who own and manage our Frog Pond)\nMonterey Regional Storm Water Management Program\nReGen Monterey (formerly Monterey Regional Waste Management District)\nCalifornia American Water Company\nCitizens Action Group\n\nDel Rey Oaks residents can also pick up free mulch donated by California American Water Co and the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District. \nPlease consider walking\, bicycling\, or carpooling to this event. \nFor more info: Karen Harris – kdharris@comcast.net 831-917-7804.
