Monterey County Hospitality Association recognizes Colleen Ingram

Colleen Ingram, a member of Sustainable Pacific Grove steering committee, was the recipient of a certificate of recognition awarded by the Monterey County Hospitality Association.  Colleen was recognized for her work to bring sustainability practices at Bernardus Lodge and Spa such as promoting recycling, repurposing items like shipping packages into storage containers and raising awareness about the plastic pollution.  Thanks to Colleen’s efforts, Bernardus has become a No Plastic Straws venue.  Congratulations Colleen!  You are an inspiration and model to follow.

Celebrate Pollinator Week in Seaside with a  POLLINATOR PARTY  Saturday, June 22, 2019, 10 am to 12 noon  Manzanita Stuart Park (where San Pablo Avenue intersects with Mescal St. near the pedestrian bridge. 10 am: Volunteer Cleanup/Prep for pollinator plantings 11am: Pollinator Info Fair After the usual cleanup activities, stay and learn more the importance of pollinators in a fun and interactive way. Pollinator partners from Sustainable Seaside, Seaside Environmental Committee, FOSPA, Return of the Natives, and more, will team up with the City of Seaside to present a child-friendly Pollinator Info Fair. Learn and share information on bee raising and bee-friendly pollinator attractor plants. Volunteers: Meet on the hill by the pedestrian bridge. Work will involve general park cleanup and prepping an area that will become home to pollinator plants. RSVP to Gloria Sterns at gstearns@ci.seaside.ca.us to make sure enough equipment is on hand. The beans, donated by the Seed Savers Exchange, were acquired from the late Dr. John Wyche of Hugo, Oklahoma, whose Cherokee ancestors carried them over the Trail of Tears, the infamous winter death march from the Smoky Mountains to Oklahoma (1838-39) that left a trail of 4,000 graves.
